the safety of our labels, and being in community
February's Full Moon falls in Leo, a sign that is powerful and can even feel like a turning point.
Do you feel the frantic energy in the air?
You might notice emotions are high, maybe more restlessness, and your body having especially sensitive reactions to the potent and palpable energy all around.
It might be teaching you to notice how it is that you deal with change, notice your patterns and take the time to live consciously embodied.
Because this energy can feel a bit overwhelming and disconcerting - you may want to revisit your routines:
How do you choose to cleanse? To clear away negative energy?
How do you intentionally transition yourself into more positive states of mind in your every day life?
Letting yourself stay in autopilot won’t be the most useful way to navigate this full moon - it might be calling you to be really intentionalwith what you are listening to, what thoughts you’re allowing, what you are consuming (in more ways than one), and what you spend your time and energy on.
Figure out what makes you smile, what lights you up, or even what things make you feel physically better?
Are you paying attention?
Even if you don’t feel particularly inspired - it might be good for you to make a list of what those things are so that you can more consciously curate your spiritual and personal joy toolkit.
Let yourself be resourced, even if that means you gathering what you need by yourself, rather than relying on outside sources to give you what you need.
✨ Journal prompt:
When I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed, what kinds of activities or tools help me to feel better? List as many as come to mind. Store this list in a place you can easily revisit when you are feeling in need of support or a small boost.
What I'm Learning Lately:
A question I’m pondering is - what am I clinging to around my identity that I use as safe harbor?
I don’t always like labels.
I often want to be free of them.
But to be human means that I’ll be bucketed into all sorts of labels.
Are you liberal or conservative? A parent, or single? Spiritual or atheist? It’s almost as if we’re asking - are you good or bad?
It’s reductive.
We judge from our labels. Yet we want to break free of them.
We feel safe in our labels - so much so that they become our identities.
We forget that we are more than our labels. We are multi-dimensional beings - and by that I mean - we operate from the dimension of the mind, from the dimension of our emotions, from the dimension of presence and action, and even from our relationships.
We show up differently in all sorts of varying circumstances - the different aspects of our identity showing up in a myriad of ways.
We have access to a wide variety of skills and talents, perspectives and even source from a wide array of memories.
We are more than our experiences - but we think our experiences define us.
I wonder how much of that confusion - this soup that we are all swimming in - just complicates the very nature of our being.
We can’t detach from our labels - the only way to get there would be through death.
We can’t walk around this earth as ethereal beings - completely connected, not separate.
To be human is to be separate. But perhaps in the same way it is a gift to sit in our labels, it’s also a gift to be able to change, evolve and make decisions outside of our chosen labels.
We can remind ourselves that they are like coats - we can remove them, we can put them back on as we please.
Life might be more about shedding and letting go, than it is about grasping.
I don’t like being defined by my labels - I’m a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a business owner, a puerto rican woman, but each of those labels don’t fully define me.
And yet the safety of my labels brings me in community with others.
It’s that fear of outgrowing our communities, fear of being expelled or unloyal to what a label defines that keeps us trapped.
Can we allow ourselves to be complex, can we resist the desire to let our labels keep us contained, safe, and rigid?
How can we honor the differences among us without ostracizing members of our groups?
Because it is this very thing that activates our fear of committing to something outside of our safe harbors.
Instead of seeking our freedom, we self-abandon in many ways.
Instead of taking on risk for the sake of a dream or goal, we people please, we stay small.
Instead of speaking truth to something difficult, we stay silent.
But it's a good reminder that to be human is to be complex. Even if that complexity makes us feel at odds with ourselves.
I can be incredibly confident, and incredibly shy.
I can be silly, and also very strict.
I can be intelligent, insightful and articulate and also make some of the most idiotic statements when I’m not thinking or ignorant to something key.
That is what our humanity gives us the freedom to do.
To be nuanced, inconsistent, contradictory, hypocritical even.
Anyone who makes you feel trapped by your labels, who wants you to stick rigidly close to them, is not be to trusted.
It’s an immature way to think, too simplistic, and naive even.
But to allow for that complexity lets us expand our thinking. It gives us the ability to broaden our perspective. The ability to empathize - to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.
And that openness doesn’t stop inside us, in how we think and feel, but it also shapes how we move through the world.
It gives us the chance to taste all that life has to offer. To move from one experience to another - tasting, sampling and trying out a new way to live.
Work with me:
Curious to know what 2026 might bring? 🌟
Last year, I offered a Year-Ahead Tarot reading designed to help people reflect, reset, and get clear on the energy they wanted to bring into the new year.
The session uses a 13-card spread, one card for each month, plus an overarching theme or energy that may influence the year. But I'm not predicting the future, instead it's all about mapping themes, patterns, and opportunities you can work with intentionally as you navigate challenges or situations that may come up.
It was something new I tried, and it turned out to be my most popular offering ever. Yay!
So, I'm continuing to offer it for 2026.
These sessions are an hour long - part intuitive reading, part reflective coaching, and designed to help you ground, clarify, and connect with what's emerging for you in the new year.
If you're feeling that pull to pause, reflect, and listen to what's in your next chapter, I'd love to hold that space with you!
What Clients Say:
“
Working with Marisol has fundamentallyshifted the way I see myself and opened me to a whole new realm of possibilities for my career, artistic practice, and self- care. Mari is a genius. She is inventive and energetic, patient and connected. My work with Mari has been deep, but the depths are always explored joyfully and with such great tenderness. Her offerings are a kaleidoscope, at once practical and mystical and utterly unique. I would recommend her services to anyone who feels stuck, unclear or dispassionate about how to show up in our ever changing world. In a time of so much darkness, Marisol is a light.

Loose Joy: A few moments of joy from my life lately
On Community: Over the weekend I had the honor of opening the one year anniversary celebration of Las Chicas de Pilsen with a group meditation. It was so beautiful to witness how much this book club (which is actually so much more than a book club) has grown over the course of a year.
They've committed to doing so many amazing things in the Pilsen community - acts of service including collecting donations for children, food for their local food pantries, but also just providing community, safety and camaraderie for Latina women.
Please consider following their Instagram, and Facebook pages to learn more, join, and get involved!
On Mendfulness: I'm currently reading a book called Mending Matters: Stitch, Patch and Repair your favor denim & more. It's a slow fashion guide for a well-loved wardrobe and I just purchased my first Sashiko sewing kit to inject some extra fun into my slightly worn jeans.
In a world pushing fast fashion, this is just a small way I'm trying to be mindful of my buying habits, and being more intentional with things such as what I choose to clothe my body with. And it's such a joyful way to bring my own personality into the clothes I already own.
With that, I send you love, warmth and all the goodness life has to offer.
xoxo,
Be well my loves!
